After a week off of work and my typical responsibilities, it’s inevitable that the transition back into real life is going to be difficult. However, this time, instead of jumping into the workweek with the all-too-easy “Ugh, I wish I was still on the beach” mindset, I’m making an effort to introduce a few vacation habits into the everyday. Here are two:
Rise with the sun. For some reason, I tend to wake up earlier on vacation. It’s probably because it’s much more appealing to roll out of bed and onto the beach than the bus, but I’m going to stick with it — those extra minutes make the morning go so much more smoothly.
Appreciate the little things. Why does a Corona taste so much better from a beach chair? Because we’re fully tuned into the moment and appreciating it. So while I probably can’t manage to drink a beer next to the ocean every day for the rest of the summer (I wish), I’m bringing this mindful attention to my coffee, my walk to the office, my conversations, anything.
Have a lovely week!
