We have both been making an effort to have more mindful mornings. And now that it’s spring time, we are making a habit of getting up a little early each morning to get moving and it is making a BIG difference.
Instead of running out the door (usually just a tad late) for work, we’re making a pledge to start the day off with a totally different energy and run around the neighborhood instead. Haley is a runner, but I’m not. So it’s been especially difficult for me to start the day this way, but it’s true that the first 30 steps are the hardest. For me, I need to have my workout clothes next to the bed and my headphones and keys right next to the door. Making it as easy as possible to get out of bed and out the door is crucial.
If you’re like me and need an extra bit of motivation, grab a friend and sign up for a run so that you hold yourself accountable. We just signed up for the 34th Annual Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes, and we’re running the 8k. We’ll keep you posted on how it goes. And if you have any tips on how to survive your first 8k, please share in the comments. Happy Monday!
