I don’t want to speak too soon, but it is feeling like spring has sprung here in Seattle. This season always seems to come the most quickly and suddenly in the Pacific Northwest. This year, we went from snow on the ground to warm, sunny skies in just over a week. Pretty wild.
The intense transition always makes me even more excited about the new season and grateful to see the sun. But, it doesn’t leave much time to rotate out our heavy winter clothes for lighter layers. To address this, I have a few styling tricks that I return to year after year to make the transition a little easier:
- Dress up your favorite strappy heels with a pair of distressed denim. It’ll keep you warmer in breezy weather, and the combination of a more formal heel with casual jeans creates an effortlessly cool look.
- Throw a leather jacket over a maxi dress. The jacket is easy to slip on or over your shoulders as the temperatures vary and is an easy way to start to break out a few of your favorite summer pieces.
- Pair a mini skirt or dress with ankle booties. A shoe that fully covers your foot will feel more appropriate in these earlier months, and be better protection from a spontaneous spring shower.
