If you live in the PNW and you haven’t made a trip to Whidbey Island…go. It’s just under two hours from Seattle, but can feel like a world away. Every time my family makes a trip to stay at our house there, we talk about the “Island Time” effect that the little town has on us. Something about the combination of the distance from home, the proximity to the water, and the attitude of our neighbors and friends there, helps us to just slow down.
I love having a place for this. As I’m sure so many people struggle with, I can so easily get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the day to day. Running from one appointment to the next and constantly checking an endless to-do list, it’s easy to go the full week on auto-pilot, without consciously stopping to take a breath.
But getting a break from this not only helps relieve some of that stress, but also to make room for creative thoughts and inspiration. Without the distraction that comes from the every day, there is more time to spend dreaming big, creating, and setting goals.
Where do you go to escape, reset, recharge, and find inspiration?
