Let’s face it, life is stressful. There are always one million things to do and another task to check off or responsibility to tend to. This past month especially, I have been feeling like I can barely keep up. As a person who is naturally high-strung, I know that this is not a state that I do well in for long. But in particularly stressful times, I still tend to just set these feelings aside, instead focusing on “powering through” and oftentimes pushing myself too far. I think we all know how that ends…
In the last few years I’ve come to learn (the hard way) how important it is to recognize when these feelings are bubbling up, and to face them head on. The earlier the better. This means occasionally having to prioritize self-care over crossing off that one last task on the day’s to-do list. No matter what is going on, this is always the right call. Because when you are properly taking care of yourself, you can then show up 100% for all of the other important people and things in your life.
So, with so much going on recently, I knew that I needed to treat myself to an afternoon off. What better place is there to relax and recharge than at the absolutely gorgeous Fairmont Hotel? I had admired the Fairmont from the outside for years, but this was my first time visiting the hotel. It truly is one of the most elegant spaces I have ever spent time in.
To begin my afternoon, my sister and I stopped at The Georgian for High Tea. It was a beautiful spread complete with their specialty loose-leaf tea, a glass of champagne, and a tower of delicious tea sandwiches and desserts. We had a long, leisurely chat, and the most amazing time taking it all in.
After tea, I walked over to the spa in the hotel, Penelope & The Beauty Bar. They have a gorgeous little space and the most amazing staff – immediately so welcoming and accommodating. After spending a little time relaxing in my spa robe (because who doesn’t love a great spa robe?) I saw Angelina for The Glow treatment. The service is a combination of a detoxifying full-body wrap and a non-surgical facelift. For the facial, they use micro currents to infuse the products into your skin – lifting and brightening. It sounds intense, but it’s a relaxing treatment and the results were incredible.
At the end of my service, she recommended a few products for my skin that I am anxious to add in to my regimen. I am especially excited to begin using the Biologique Recherche P50 lotion. I have been reading only amazing things about this product for months (if you haven’t heard of it, ITG did a great post about it), so I finally splurged and treated myself to a bottle. I will keep you all posted on my thoughts!
I left the spa feeling rejuvenated and so much more relaxed. It was exactly what I needed. And guess what? Because I took the time to pamper myself and mentally reset, I started this week off with more clarity and energy and was so much more productive right off the bat. Self-care is always worth it.
