Winter can be tough, especially the winter we’ve been experiencing this year. Both of us crave sunshine pretty much all year long. If it’s even remotely warm outside, you can probably find us enjoying happy hour on an outdoor patio or tanning on a nearby deck. We’ve put together our top three recommendation to not only beat the winter blues, but to actually look forward to the season.
- Get social. OK, so maybe you can’t stand to be outside for long, and it gets dark earlier…but take advantage of it by getting your friends together for more indoor activities. We both love hosting, and truthfully, we both tend to have people over in the winter. That’s when our bookclub was born, more game nights happen, and we’ve been able to have more dinner parties.
- Allow yourself the time to relax and recharge. Winter has actually become one of my favorite seasons because can you can lean on the weather as an excuse to take it easy and recharge. When the sun comes up later and the cold keeps you in, you can sit with your Sunday morning coffee just a little bit longer, guilt-free. Try taking a bath on a rainy afternoon, or cozy up in bed with a book right after work.
- Jumpstart a project. Whether that be organizing the garage, learning to ski, starting a blog, or writing a book, pick a project that you’ve had on your to-do list and dive right in. Now is the perfect time to set aside a few extra hours and take advantage of the slower months.
How do you take advantage of winter? We’d love to hear in the comments!
