I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. New Year’s resolutions are a waste of time and energy. Let’s be real. There’s really no way you’re going to stick to them for an entire year. You change so much in a year, and priorities shift and so does your focus. So, you’re actually setting yourself up for failure. The last couple of months, I’ve decided to focus on a monthly intention. They say it takes 21-days to form a habit so if you’re focusing on something for an entire month, chances are it’ll stick…or at least partially!
This month, I am focusing on simplicity. I was recently listening to Goop’s first podcast (which you have to listen to!) and Oprah made an amazing point. She was interviewing someone who’s child was really sick and they kept saying, “it’s really all so simple.” I’ve been trying to adopt that mentality. I am someone who overthinks and overcomplicates just about everything. At the end of the day, it isn’t important and it doesn’t matter. Trust your gut, don’t overcomplicate things and choose happiness. I know some things really aren’t that simple and life is complicated and that’s OK, but where you can choose simplicity, do it. In your home, in your clothes, in your relationships, in your plans. I, for one, am excited to see where we are in a month.
