It’s no secret that Ashley and I are constantly looking for ways to de-stress, relax, and find calm in the craziness of the day-to-day. We, like so many of you, attempt to juggle full time jobs, side hustles, our family, our friends, our health…and somehow have a social life in the midst of all of this. Our determination can get the best of us, and we find ourselves so wrapped up in the whirlwind of it all that it can be difficult to stop and just take a breath.
Recently, we’ve found a new hobby that forces this pause in the best possible way. We started knitting. Sure, we’ve dabbled with it before. Started to knit scarves and then stopped, but this time, we find something we were really excited about.
We both took on the project of creating a Nick Blanket from We Are Knitters. These kits are amazing because they provide you with all of the tools you need, including instructional videos if it’s your first time navigating the needles and yarn. I’ll be honest, it can be a little tricky at first. I had to refresh my memory as to what the difference is between a “knit” and a “purl” (thank goodness for those videos), but once I had my confidence in the technique back, it was so easy to settle into the rhythm and only focus on that one task.
Also, there is something so satisfying about making something with your own hands. You get to watch the product unfold a the direct result of your time and effort, and at the end, you end up with something you can use and know that you created.
